Who wants you to be a Member of the Orders of Elks?
The Elks are a nationwide community service organization nearly a million American citizens. We love our country and desire to preserve its cherished institutions, traditions, and values. We respect our neighbors and seek to promote their wellbeing.
Our Order welcome American citizens who possess a deep sense of patriotism, fairness, and dedication to noble causes. Our Members find fulfillment in serving humanity, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, aiding those in distress, and helping all in need.
We promise no material benefits or fame and we pledge no advancement of personal or career ambitions. Instead we vow to help each other become better and happier people, and to server rather than to be served.
We do not exclude anyone because of creed, race, ethnic origin, education, vocation, or marital status. We measure character by what one is and does, not by title or position. We do not seek to impose different beliefs in place of personal commitments to God, family, and country, nor do we ask anyone to act in any manner contrary to the dictates of conscience. We do not permit religous or political differences to intrude into orginazational considerations at the local, district, state, or national levels
The local Elks Lodge lets you take a prominent role in community life by practicing the virtues we have held sacred for more than 150 years – Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity.
Elks volunteers serve hundreds of thousands of veterans each year in VA Medical Centers, State Veterans Homes, homeless shelters, clinics, and wherever veterans gather. Our Members provide these veterans with supplies, support, and time, which amounts to more than $44 million per year.
Through the Elks National Foundation we spend more than $30.5 million each year toward college scholarships, community investment programs, state grants, veterans service, and other charitable endeavors.
Through our Lodge, district, state and national programs, we provide assistance to millions of boys and girls every year. We fund scholarships, athletic teams, summer camp, scouting activities, and drug education programs. We encourage civic, environmental, and patriotic involvement through essay contests, seminars, and distribution of materials.
Elks operate camps, hospitals, clinics, training centers, and in-home services for the care of children and adults with physical disabilities.
Prominent leaders in civic, business, and professional life can be found in the more than 1,900 Elks Lodges across the nation in towns big and small, rural and urban. Smiling faces and warm welcomes await you as an Elk. You’ll never have to stand alone now that you’re a Member of the Elks family.
